Les Mythopoeic Awards, ou prix Mythopoeic, sont des prix littéraires américains créés par la Mythopoeic Society. Chaque année ils récompensent les œuvres de fantasy, les essais sur les mythes et la littérature de fantasy et les essais portant sur le groupe littéraire des Inklings, notamment fréquenté par J.R.R. Tolkien, son fils Christopher Tolkien et C.S. Lewis. La catégorie qui nous intéresse particulièrement est The Mythopoeic Scholarship Award in Inklings Studies, créée en 1971 et étant à l’origine du prix lui-même. Parmi les grands lauréats on compte par exemple Douglas A. Anderson en 1990 pour l’édition de The Annotated Hobbit, John Garth en 2004 pour son fameux Tolkien and the Great War: The Threshold of Middle-earth récemment traduit et publié chez Christian Bourgois et bien entendu des ouvrages de Wayne G. Hammond et Christina Scull, pour ne citer que ces quelques grandes figures. Découvrez ci-dessous les nominés de cette année :
